Arizona Dem Turns On Biden Over Mental Fitness

(IntegrityPress.org) – Shortly after President Joe Biden met with several Democratic governors, Arizona Gov. Katie Hobbs is beginning to change her tune on the president’s ability to lead.

On Wednesday, July 10, reporters questioned Hobbs about whether or not she believes Biden should remain on the Democratic Party’s ticket.

The governor replied that it was “up to the president,” and refused to give any more details about her meeting with the president, only saying that she felt Biden should address concerns about whether he is up for the job.

Hobbs said she was aware of Arizonans’ concerns “about the president’s age,” and that such concerns are now “even more top of mind” since the president’s performance during his first debate against former President Donald Trump. She said Biden is aware that it is up to him to “assure” voters in Arizona and around the country that he is fit to lead.

A week before these remarks, Hobbs refused to comment on the meeting amid reports that the Biden campaign was trying to gather a united front of support.

Despite calls to withdraw from the race from pundits and lawmakers who once supported Biden, including celebrities like George Clooney, the president is adamant that he will keep running and is the only person who can defeat Trump. Clooney published an op-ed with The New York Times saying that even though he loves the president, the party “needs a new nominee.”

After her foreboding remarks, Hobbs added that she does think Biden “can do the job” and that she had nothing else to say about the situation. She said her own vote was “abundantly clear” and that she would vote for Biden because he is going to “uphold democracy” while Trump is “trying to tear it down.”

Polls show that Biden is behind Trump in Arizona by at least 5 points. The Grand Canyon State is one of the deciding battleground states in November, and it looks like it will go red again, just as it did in 2016 when Trump was elected.
