(IntegrityPress.org) – Oklahoma just passed a state law that will abrogate any attempt by international organizations to foist mandates on its residents whether it has to do with climate or pandemic policies. The law lays out that all subdivisions of the state, public or quasi-public entities, schools, towns, etc. may not use any mandates from the World Health Organization (WHO), United Nations (UN) or the World Economic Forum (WEF) as the basis of policy in the state.
The bill was signed into law by GOP Gov. Kevin Stitt on June 5th was effective as soon as it was signed. The law comes as the World Health Assembly was debating passage of new bylaws which were geared at giving the WHO more authority to manage pandemic response.
Sen. Ron Johnson (R-WI) highlighted that the WHO was incredibly happy with how “communist China” handled the pandemic. He suggested they coddled China’s refusal to give global researchers access to all the information they had about the disease, hampering the response. He asked why anyone should trust the WHO when they seemingly ignored China’s lack of candor.
The WHO wants a universal response playbook for pandemics which it claims will improve response and save lives. Republicans are not impressed. Every GOP Senator signed a letter that was sent to President Joe Biden demanding he refuse to sign two new proposals which would give the WHO more authority and power over American lives during an outbreak. They cited the WHO’s record during the pandemic as evidence of incompetence.
Rep. Ralph Norman (R-SC) highlighted the “totally botched” handling of the pandemic by the WHO; he suggested that one of the purposes of their new proposal is to steal resources from American taxpayers.
Former Minnesota Rep. Michelle Bachman highlighted that negotiations fell apart at the last minute at the World Health Assembly which had been working for months to finalize an agreement amongst member states. She called it “good news” that the organization itself couldn’t even come to terms.
Conservatives have warned that the price of freedom is eternal vigilance and despite this current failure, there will be more attempts to globalize pandemic response in the future.
