The irony of the situation is palpable. These students are calling for an “assault weapons” ban in response to an incident where no such weapon was used. The alleged shooter, a 15-year-old girl named Natalie Rupnow, used a handgun to carry out the attack, killing a student and a teacher, injuring six others, before taking her own life.
