(IntegrityPress.org) – A House Homeland Security Committee hearing featured testimony from two mothers who lost their daughters to the Biden administration’s open border policy on Thursday, January 18th.
Tammy Nobles testified before the committee regarding the circumstances surrounding the brutal rape and murder of her 20-year-old daughter, Kayla Hamilton. Josephine Dunn testified regarding the death by fentanyl poisoning of her daughter, Ashley, aged 26.
Nobles is suing the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) for $100 million in damages after DHS officials failed to thoroughly scrutinize an illegal alien after he entered the country. Nobles explained how her daughter was brutally assaulted and killed by an illegal who had an obvious affiliation with the international MS-13 gang.
She said that had DHS visually inspected his body, they would have discovered tattoos that indicated he was a gang member and thus ineligible for release in the U.S. Nobles said had DHS officials bothered to make a phone call to his country of origin, they similarly would have found numerous criminal records indicating his status as a gang member and violent repeat offender.
Dunn testified that Arizona is a “fentanyl superhighway” allowing the deadly narcotic to enter the country unimpeded in historic quantities. Dunn slammed DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas for failing to maintain security at the southern border in accordance with his official duties. She highlighted over 10 million illegal border crossings which have occurred during the Biden administration.
The committee had asked Mayorkas to attend and give testimony in his defense, however he declined to appear for the hearing.
DHS representatives speaking with the Daily Caller News Foundation said they couldn’t comment on pending lawsuits, but suggested that their employees take homeland security “very seriously.”
The southern border crisis has been heating up in recent weeks with the latest standoff between Texas officials and the Biden administration. Texas Gov. Greg Abbott has barred Border Patrol officials under Biden’s command access to Shelby Park, near Eagle Pass, Texas, a popular crossing point for illegals. Abbott said Biden’s Border Patrol was facilitating criminal entry and wouldn’t be allowed to continue.
