Ramaswamy Campaigns for Federal Election Standards

(IntegrityPress.org) – Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy has emphasized the need for national standards, such as voter ID requirements, and making election day a national holiday, to ensure the integrity of elections. Although individual states typically oversee elections, federal guidelines have been established through laws like the 2001 Help America Vote Act, the National Voter Registration Act of 1993, and the 1965 Act for Voting Rights.

Speaking at the Thanksgiving Family Forum alongside other GOP contenders like Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, Ramaswamy underlined the importance of setting minimal federal standards. He advocated for Election Day as a national holiday with single-day voting, utilizing paper ballots, and requiring government-issued ID to align with voter files that are registered to the government.

Addressing other key issues, Ramaswamy discussed abortion, emphasizing the need for pro-life advocates learn from past mistakes and to present alternative amendments for consideration. He asserted the importance of standing for principles that unite the country without compromise on core beliefs.

Regarding the border crisis, Ramaswamy proposed a more aggressive federal response, advocating for the use of the military to secure the border, implementing barriers in border rivers, ending federal funding for sanctuary cities, and halting financial assistance to Central American countries until they address immigration challenges on their own. He also called for an end to birthright citizenship for illegal migrants.

On the issue of Big Tech accountability, Ramaswamy suggested amending Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act to make it an opt-in law. Social media platforms choosing to take advantage of the law’s liability protections should be prohibited from censoring content, aligning with the First Amendment. Those opting out would navigate the free market without special liability protection.

In the broader context, the Thanksgiving Family Forum provided a platform for Ramaswamy and his fellow candidates to express their self-labelled strong support for the protection of life and address critical issues facing the nation.
