Twitter (X) Accused of Censoring J6 Documentary

(IntegrityPress.org) – The documentary, J6: A True Timeline, which sheds light on the alleged misconduct by the police during the Capitol riot on January 6, 2021, is reportedly facing shadowbanning on Twitter (now known as “X”). Despite getting over 2 million views since its release on December 31, 2023, users are encountering difficulties accessing the film on the social media platform.

The documentary offers a detailed analysis and time stamped structure of the events of January 6, presenting a chronological account of exactly what happened on that day, and illustrates how even though the protest was initially peaceful, it became one of the most studied riots in history by the FBI. It is currently the only film out right now that depicts the events on that day exactly how they unfolded.

It contains exclusive footage that has yet to be covered by the House Administration Committee, raising concerns about transparency and accountability from the US government. The film shows the struggles of January 6 detainees, some of whom have been in custody for three years, and it also criticizes the US Attorney’s Office for trying to arrest the J6 demonstrators who never entered the Capitol during the riot.

Twitter users have reported obstacles in trying to view the documentary, with a disclaimer warning of “sensitive content” preventing access. Despite adjusting settings to allow access to such content, users still face restrictions. This has prompted Daniel Goodwin, a defendant from J6 and producer, to draw attention to the apparent censorship on Twitter. In a tweet, he questioned the censorship, highlighting the film’s endorsement by figures like Gen. Michael Flynn, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, and its feature on Tucker Carlson’s show.

It’s noteworthy that Elon Musk’s social media platform, Twitter, known for providing space for conservative voices, is also subject to certain limitations on free speech. The issues faced by the documentary on Twitter have raised concerns about potential censorship and restrictions on the way information spreads regarding the Capitol riot.
