Zelenskyy Believes Withdrawal From Kherson Is Beginning of the End

(IntegrityPress.org) – Ukraine has fought Russian invaders for nearly nine months, causing widespread devastation in warzones and severe disturbances in the world economy. Ukrainian forces recently scored a major victory as Russian troops moved out of the city of Kherson, leaving it under full Ukrainian control once more. According to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the development could be the beginning of the end of the conflict.

Russia’s withdrawal took place over the weekend, beginning on Friday, November 11. Ukrainian authorities have begun clearing the city of Russian mines and assessing the state of the area, as invading forces appear to have caused severe damage to essential infrastructure.

President Zelenskyy attended a flag-raising ceremony while visiting Kherson after Ukrainian forces had secured the area, apparently becoming emotional as Ukraine’s colors flew over the city once again. He addressed those present, claiming the victory marked significant progress for Ukraine and that it was the “beginning of the end of the war,” according to the Daily Mail.

The president has stated that Russian troops in Kherson at the time of the city’s reclamation are in Ukrainian custody. It has also emerged that Ukrainian authorities are seeking help from locals to identify anyone who helped Russian forces during their invasion.
