Hamas Leaders Enjoy Life of Luxury as Citizens Suffer

(IntegrityPress.org) – According to a host of reports, terror pays well, at least if you’re in the upper echelons of organizations like Hamas. Outside of its senior positions, life is not so good. In the West Bank, a person’s average daily wage is only $32. For their Palestinian counterparts in Gaza, the daily take-home is less than half of that at only $13.

Those numbers, of course, are for the employed. Almost 50% of the entire Gazan population has no job. That number, which was compiled by the United Nations, was tabulated before the ongoing war kicked off.

Joblessness aside, while the overwhelming majority of Palestinians in the enclave live in what nearly anyone in the world would consider to be abject poverty, the leadership of Hamas appears to be wearing cufflinked suits and stacking pallets of cash. Before one rolls their eyes and thinks to themselves, “no, that’s just Mossad inspired propaganda,” many would appreciate knowing that there are a number of stories on the issue from a host of different sources.

The fact that outlets are reporting on it certainly could have its genesis in the Israeli government, but most would agree that at the end of the day, numbers don’t lie. Even if the data released by Israel’s stateside embassy in late October was inflated by 90%, the combined net worths of Hamas’ top three leaders would still be shocking.

According to their claims, both Ismail Haniyeh and Khaled Mashal each have an overall worth of $4 billion. Another one of their less-wealthy colleagues, Abu Marzouk, is only worth a reported $3 billion. The terror group the three men helm is said to have an annual turnover of around $1 billion.

A 2014 Forbes report confirmed the yearly turnover and said that Hamas was the second-richest terror organization on the planet. The Islamic radicals were outranked only by another group of militant Muslims in the region, ISIS.
