Weiss Accuses Biden of Lying to Courts

(IntegrityPress.org) – Special Counsel David Weiss, the United States attorney assigned to handle the prosecution of Hunter Biden for his alleged tax crimes, slammed Hunter Biden for lying in his court filings and thus making misrepresentations to the court.

Hunter Biden was slapped with an indictment in December for 9 counts of tax evasion, filing false returns, and failure to file/pay his taxes. The latest indictment followed the collapse of a sweetheart deal that the judge in the case objected to due to its extreme leniency and likely illegality.

The case has been ongoing for some time with no end in sight. Judge Mark Scarsi is overseeing the case in California. He was appointed by former President Donald Trump. The indictment alleges a plot over four years to avoid paying a tax obligation totaling over $1.4 million for monies he earned between 2019 and 2019.

The indictment claims that Hunter Biden acquired $7 million in gross earnings from 2016 through October 15, 2020. The breakdown is $1.5 million from 2016, $2.3 million from 2017, $2.1 million from 2018, $1 million in 2019, and roughly $188,000 in the first 9 months of 2020. He also received $1.2 million in that last period in 2020 in what the indictment calls “financial support.” The indictment further alleged that Hunter Biden spent most of his money on prostitutes, drugs, and lavish luxury outings.

Weiss claims that Hunter Biden spent money on “everything but his taxes.” Hunter Biden’s team has argued that the prosecution is political in nature while not offering any evidence to support the claim. Weiss suggested Hunter Biden was busy conjuring conspiracy theories that were completely baseless.

Law professor Jonathan Turley highlighted that Weiss destroyed Hunter Biden’s claims in a filing that uses the defendant’s own filings to demonstrate Hunter’s lawyers are lying. For example, Hunter Biden claimed in filings that he was being coerced to plead guilty to felonies with jail time which wasn’t the case. Weiss responded by showing exactly where their negotiations fell apart, and highlighted that it was Hunter Biden’s team that rejected further negotiations, even when there was no such demand.

Turley said that the case was a stark example of the difference between arguing a case in the court of public opinion versus a court of law.
